The original "Apqusiuq" acrylic painting, 40" x 40" wood frame, resting on a denim canvas I made, worker's fabric. It is stitched with labor. By using it I wanted the image of breaking ice to live on a surface that has always belonged to work. The warm sky vs. the cold assorted blue ice could be interpreted as resilience against adversity, passion meeting challenge, on the ice, where strength meets stillness. The Inuk carves a way forward through jagged shards, cutting through the chill of doubt, reminding us that each morning, there's a path to be made. -Aviuk
